JULY 2011 PICNIC
On July 23, the Colorado Society met at Cross Orchards Living History Farm in Grand Junction.  Of the 100 people attending the meeting, the Denver group chartered a bus to drive over to enjoy the fine food and walk around the farm to see the sights and the adjacent Uintah Railroad Museum and Grand Valley Model Railroad Club displays.  The ladies of the DAR, the Territorial Daughters and many other friends heard a talk about our founding fathers and mothers.  Garry Brewer spoke on George Washington's mother, Mary Ball, and what an outstanding woman she was.  Washington had said his mother was the first one who "bent the twig so the tree of liberty could grow".
